Juan Ortiz-Apuy was born in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1980, he is currently based in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he is completing his MFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Ortiz-Apuy holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Concordia University in Montréal, Québec and a post-graduate diploma from the Glasgow School of Art in Glasgow, Scotland. Recently, Ortiz-Apuy’s video, Disruptions,was screened at the 23rd Images Festival in Toronto where he presented during the International Experimental Media Congress at OCAD University. His work is also featured as the poster image for Dazibao’s 2010-2011 programming brochure.  Ortiz-Apuy has exhibited his work throughout Canada and in the UK and will present a solo exhibition at the McLaren Arts Center in September 2011.
