SÉbastien Lapointe /

Sébastien Lapointe's practice is rooted in sampling, diverting, looping and appropriating existing cultural elements to modify or emphasize their meaning within varying circumstances. His recent work in photography, video, urban intervention, and installation is based on principles of difference and repetition. Sébastien Lapointe unites his multifarious practice assembling an exhibition that is pulled from an urban and electronic culture of cut, copy, paste, edit.

Sébastien Lapointe's work has been included in various exhibitions in Canada (including Musée du Québec, Galerie Clark, Le Lobe, SAT, Galerie Sans-Nom) and
abroad (Spain, France, United-States, Thailand). He regularly collaborates with other artists and collectives, including Gennaro De Pasquale, the Parallaxe collective, and Complot Records. He is an active member of the Centre Clark, serving as coordinator of the Postes Audio series. Also active in the electronic-music world under the name DjSlap, Lapointe has participated in various events under this pseudonym for a dozen years. He currently teaches at Collège Lionel-Groulx and recently completed his MFA from the Université de Québec à Montréal.
