Nancy Bourassa, Pascal Caputo, Jon Claytor and Kris Knight present paintings and mixed media work that focus on the visible/invisible characteristics, traits, qualities, symbols, marks and distinguishing attributes of figurative painting’s construction and deconstruction. Characteristics runs the gamut of what figurative painting is today. Presenting the tendencies of both the creators and their imagery, Characteristics is a play of desires focused on the possibilities for figuration from an overwhelmingly vast array of source material.
