The sound sculptures and installations of Zimoun are graceful, mechanized works where structural simplicity evokes an intricate series of relationships between the “artificial” and the “organic”. Born in Switzerland in 1977, Zimoun is a self taught artist residing in Bern. He is interested in the artistic research of simple and elegant systems to generate and study complex behaviours in sound and motion. He creates sound pieces from basic components, often using multiples of the same prepared mechanical elements to examine the creation and degeneration of patterns.

Zimoun’s work has been featured in numerous solo and group shows as well as performances throughout Europe, Asia and North America, including the Bitforms Gallery New York (USA), Elektra Montreal (CAN), Kunsthalle Bern (CH), Cybersonica London (UK), Art Museum Liechtenstein (LI), Netherlands Media Art Institute Amsterdam (NL),Museum of Fine Arts Bern (CH) and the DDM Gallery in Shanghai.

Galerie PUSH is inspired by the ever growing appreciation for new contemporary art within the city of Montreal and a formidable group of existing galleries and foundations who continuously amplify Montreal’s position on the international art map. Galerie PUSH is honoured to participate in the 11th edition of the Elektra festival where the international perspective and mandate offers an opportunity for the most innovative artists working in the digital arts to converge in Montreal during this five day festival.
